Is this safe? I'm concerned about radiation exposure.

What if my DEXA scan said I was “normal”?
Many women with “normal” DEXA still have compromised bone quality that DEXA can’t detect. REMS can reveal microarchitecture issues that elevate fracture risk despite normal density.
Will my insurance cover this?
Currently insurance does not cover the REMS scan. A CPT code is in progress, but it’s likely 24–36 months away. The latest estimate is mid–late 2026 for potential reimbursement.
